Hey man, can you note me your thoughts on Animation Mentor? I read your blog and I saw earlier you were stuck in between Ringling or Animation Mentor. Right now I'm stuck in what college to look for, if I should do AM and college, or not to AM and just do College. What colleges do you think are good?

Depends what you're going into. If you're 100% sure that all you want to do is straight up 3D animation, go with animation mentor. They're hands down the most in depth tutors when it comes to the acting and art of animation. But if you're like me and want to be open for 2D animation and/or some preproduction/concept development stuff, as well as become a great 2D artist, go to art school. A.M. has no art training. Trust me, if you want to be a great animator, become a great artist first. Being able to plan out your keys on paper without hassle makes all the difference. A good idea would be to go to college, and if the animation program isn't up to your liking, do A.M. after, as a masters program kinda thing. By the way, Ringling denied me to their animation program two years in a row, so I'm actually gonna be going to SCAD this fall, which has a really great animation program as well (maybe a notch or two below Ringling, but they still place plenty of graduates at Pixar and Dreamworks, and plus I love the campus SOOOO much more than Ringling). You should look into it. Ringling, SCAD, and CalArts are all great schools for animation, and A.M. is just as good (if not better) if you already have solid art training.

Hey, I saw you were looking at Ringling. I was curious if your plans are still there.

Nah, I got denied from their animation program (and only from their animation program) two years running now, but actually now that I've visited I didn't like it that much. I'm going to go to SCAD now if finances come together.

This is Andrew Davis. My art sux, but I am a beginner.... I stink at human anatomy and real art... (I really just fool around with manga/anime drawings.)
